All Ireland Sevens countdown begins ......
It is that time of year again: an Autumnal chill creeps covertly into the evenings whilst the perennial, near manic, search for All Ireland Final tickets is again in full cry. Yes, it is Kilmacud Sevens time in Stillorgan and months of planning are about to bear fruit when 48 teams take to the playing fields on Saturday, 19thSept next.
The official launch of this year's 37th oneills.com event was staged in Croke Park yesterday with GAA President, Christy Cooney, doing the honours. Today's media are well endowed with reports and photos of the event. However, this web-site is the place to get the official inside track as the 19th draws closer and plans are tweeked and finalised. Just click on the 7s graphic at the top of our homepage at any time and you will be transported to the special Kilmacud Sevens web-site that is now in its 3rd year. Results and tables from all games - 82 in total from 12 Groups and 4 venues - will be displayed almost instantaneously there until the 2009 champions emerge. The web-site will also provide a single point of reference for emerging news in the build-up to the 19th and on the day itself, as well as photos and other useful information.
Be sure to check it out now and regularly over the next few weeks. No matter where you are in the world you can be amongst the first to learn how defending champions St Galls (Antrim) are faring or ..... if the home club, current All Ireland Club Champs, Kilmacud Crokes, are heading for the double? To get you into the swing of things here are some links to photos from last year's (2008) wonderful day, the annual Sevens day when our club volunteers complement the efforts of players and referees from all over Ireland and further afield to such marvellous effect. Enjoy!
