Crokes win the Shield at McNulty Memorial Tournament
Report by U11 player Ben Marnell
Kilmacud Crokes were invited to compete in Na Fianna’s annual under 11 hurling tournament on 5th May. We had one team in the Cup competition and one team in the Shield.
In the shield tournament Kilmacud were undefeated through the four group matches against Na Fianna B & C, Sarsfields B and Castleknock B. That put us into the final against Na Fianna B. In the final it was close at half-time, 2 points for Crokes to no score, but in the second half Crokes had a stormer and ended up winning 6-4 to 0-0.
The Cup team unfortunately did not make it into the final. It was won by Sarsfields from Cork.
My highlights of the day were scoring a goal in the final, lifting the shield and the water-fight at lunch time (it was very sunny!).
Thanks to Na Fianna for organising the competition and inviting us to play. Thanks as well to all our coaches and supporters.
