Junior C's lose out to Faughs
An under strength Junior C team lost out to Faughs in a cold but dry Silverpark on Sunday 7 April.
The newly promoted Junior C team struggled somewhat in their opening game of the season. Facing a recently relegated Faughs team in the AHL Div 6 fixture, Crokes struggled to pull together a team, with many members from last year's successful campaign unavailable or retired. As was the case with all teams this week, players were in short supply and only for the fact that we managed to pick up a few minors on the morning we would have struggled to field.
We started well and traded points with the opposition, however going with 13 aside we were exposed all too easily at the back, with Faughs making good use of the space to run in two well taken goals. We responded well with a few more scores, well worked points from play from Fergus and Ryan while Shane kept making the frees count. Peter got on the end of a fine ball through from Barry to finish to the net to leave us trailing by four points at the break.
We ran out of steam early enough in the second half and the result was never really in doubt, as Faughs ran on to win comfortably by eight points. A big step up is needed for the championship, which begins in two weeks time.
