Junior D's beat Castleknock
Junior D's beat Castleknock
Kilmacud Crokes 4-14, Castleknock 0-12
The Junior D team recovered well from their previous defeat in the championship to Raheny, with a comprehensive 4-14 to 0-12 victory over Castleknock on a sunny Sunday afternoon in Silverpark. Crokes fielded a very strong line up, with much young talent coming through from the minor ranks. We started very strongly, with two early goals courtesy of Donal Keane and a fantastic solo effort from John Huban - who was making his offensive debut at center forward. Indeed the Crokes forwards were on fire early on, taking their scores well. However, much credit for this performance must also go to the two defensive lines, who dominated possession and gave the Castleknock forwards no easy scores. Indeed, the visitors relied mainly on frees to keep themselves in the game. A neat finish to the goal from corner forward Andy Cullinane just before the break meant we went in at half time leading 3-06 to 0-03.
Determined to continue where we left off, we again got an excellent goal at the start of the second half, with a fine finish to the corner from Donal Keane. Points were traded evenly from then until the end, as Crokes were comfortable throughout, going on to win by a margin of 14 points.
