Kilmacud Crokes are 2014 Senior Hurling Champions!
Crokes win County Championship in extra time
What a match! Crokes had to dig deep to earn their 6th ever Senior County title, and their second in three years.
All square (0-05 each) at the short whistle Crokes looked as if they would lose out to an energetic and tenacious St Judes team, until Damien Kelly popped up with a point in the last seconds of normal time. A great goal by Ross O'Carroll earlier in the half had not been enough to see off Judes, for whom Danny Sutcliffe in particular had been magnificant. Final score at the end of normal time was 1-11 to 0-14.
Extra time gave Crokes the welcome opportunity to regroup and, despite a late goal by Judes, Crokes won out in the end by 4 points, with Sean McGrath scoring a brilliant goal along the way, following great work by Ross O Carroll.
Celebrations back in Glenalbyn continued late into the night, but focus now shifts to the Leinster Championship encounter with Rathdowney Erill at 2:15pm on Sunday 2 November in Parnell Park. Bí ann!!
