GAMES
The under 14B’s opened the week’s games activity with a challenge against Clanna Gael in Ringsend on Monday night 28th June 2010,winning 7-7 to 4-1. Strong performers included Niall Sweeny, Andrew Porter, Andrew Ahern, and Paul Comerford. Scorers were Paul Comerford 4-1, Niall Sweeny 1-5, Andrew Porter 1-1 and Daniel Bohan 1-0. The same squad had a Division 3 league assignment on Thursday evening in Rathcoole against Commercials and came away with a two point win. This reversed an earlier eighteen point league defeat and came courtesy of a last minute goal from a twenty five metre free by Paul Comerford.
On Tuesday all three under 13 teams took the field. One of the Division 1 teams and the Division 5 team were at home in Deerpark. The Division 1 boys turned around a half time deficit to claim a narrow win over Ballyboden,3-8 to 3-6. On a night when there were several stars Cathal Keane, Martin Connor, Eoin Sheehy, Ronan Hayes, Brian Grogan and Conn O'Cleirigh deserve special mention. On the lower pitch the Division 5 team played Wild Geese (a combination North County Dublin side). Several U12s turned out to put in a great display and take the points on a 5-2 to 2-7 scoreline. This win brings the KC3 team to joint top of Division 5. Best performers were Joe Dalton, Khalil Siegrist (who now returns to Switzerland), Michael Kane and Daniel Keegan. The other Division 1 squad also faced north county opposition making the long trip to Swords to play Fingallians. Fingallians are propping up the division without a win but showed the Crokes lads a thing or two about work rate and commitment. Crokes were 4-8 to 3-3 up at half time and ran out 6-12 to 4-8 winners. Hardest workers were Hugh Campion, Conor McNicholas, Johnny Maher and Michael Roche. Credit is also due to Barry Hudson (u12) and Tom Keogh (u11) who performed well in their first U13 Division 1 test. The under 16’s scheduled League 1 game against St Judes did not take place as the latter conceded.
Wednesday necessitated the minor A’s going to Tymon Park to play St Judes in Division 1. Midway through the second half a Daibhid Corish goal seemed to have given Crokes a sufficient cushion but from there on it was almost one way scoring traffic in favour of the locals and Crokes lost 2-11 to 3-7.
The under 13’s were the most active team over the weekend with the two Division 1 teams in league action on Saturday. At Silverpark KC2 accounted for Lucan. KC1 Travelled to play St Vincents and came out the wrong end of a 4-8 to 3-6 scoreline.
The following morning (Sunday 4th July 2010) the combined under 13’s faced up to visitors John Lockes of Callan’s under 14’s en route to Croke Park for the Kilkenny –v- Galway Leinster senior hurling final. Greater potency in front of goal saw the Crokes lads emerge victorious. It was much the same story at a windswept Tymon North as the under 15’s picked up two moiré Division 1 points against St Judes. The visitors led 2-5 to 1-4 at the break. Confining the opposition to a single point in the second half they emerged 5-18 to 1-5 winners. For pictures see HERE
