Report Week Ending 16th January 2011
In the club’s first competitive action of 2011 the final group game in the weather interrupted, inaugural Leinster GAA “3G” Under 16 Tournament at Bray Emmets pitted Crokes against the Wicklow Development Squad.
This was the proverbial game of two halves. In very cold conditions Crokes played against the strong wind in the first half. The Garden County boys opened better and took early scores. For about a quarter of an hour form the tenth minute Crokes had most of the play but could not convert their chances. As the half wore on the Wicklow lads came back into it and led 0-7 to 0-2 at the break.
On the resumption Wicklow struck for a goal and the Stillorgan team had a mountain to climb. They applied themselves to the task and point by point clawed back the lead. With a minute on the clock the equaliser was secured and the game ended 0-11 to 1-8, the draw being sufficient to see Crokes through to the final against Ballyboden St Endas. Crokes had strong performances from Eamonn Allen in goal, corner backs Mark Collins and Andrew Colclough, No 6 Robert Murphy, Matthew Geraghty, Odhran O’Siochru and Ciaran McIntyre
