The senior team went down narrowly in a senior hurling challenge game versus the Kildare county team on Sunday in the first game of 2006. Kildare led by 2 points at half-time and stretched their lead to 7 early in the second half. A spirited fightback saw 'Crokes level the match at 1-10 to 2-7 with 5 minutes to go but a third Kildare goal with 3 minutes left could not be pegged back.
