Week Ending 14th March 2010

Body

Sunday 14th March 2010 saw more Kilmacud Crokes hurlers in match action in Offaly than in Dublin.

The seniors had a big challenge win over Kilcormac Killoughey at Mount Bolus while the intermediates had a good contest with nearby Killuran before going down 2-12 to 1-13.

Senior team: R Sweetnam, A Grogan, A de Paor, G McMorrow, R Walsh, A Cleary, N Mulligan, B Mulligan, F Armstrong, N O'Rearden, J Burke, H Gannon, K O'Loughlin, S Gillen, P Clinton

The under 13’s, with a particularly good second half display, lost out to Kilcormac Killoughey under 14’s in the latter’s Kilcormac pitch (4-14 to 5-5). At half time it was 2-10 to 0-3. Most prominent for Crokes were Fiachra O’Connor, whose high fetching from puck outs was a sight to behold, Eoin Sheehy, Fergal Whitely, Darragh Butler and Alex Considine.

The three teams attended the Dublin –v- Offaly NHL Division 1 game in O’Connor Park Tullamore where the midlanders were victorious by 3-19 to 1-18. For report see HERE .

Our thanks to our host clubs.

Back in Dublin it was disappointment for the two minor sides. The A’s lost their Division 1 League game away to St Vincents by 1-15 to 2-3. For report see HERE .

The B’s went down 3-10 to 1-9 to Cuala at Shanganagh. By half time Crokes had recovered from the concession of two early goals to be level 1-8 to 2-5. Wind advantage and Cuala’s grasping of the game by the throat proved their second half undoing. Among Crokes better performers were Paddy Tighe in goal, Daibhid Corish, Niall Hanley, Brian McHenry, Jack O’Brien and substitute Andy O’Malley.

Minor B Team: P Tighe, B O’Farrell, D Corish, O O’Carroll, C Gormley, J Butler (0-2, f-2), J Clinton (0-2, 65-1), S Moran, N Hanley, N Salvino (0-2), B McHenry, F Motherway (0-2), A Cullinane (0-1), J O’Brien, K Murphy (1-0). Subs: D Lalor for K Murphy and A O’Malley for N Salvino (both 38 mins), N Salvino for S Moran (52 mins)

On Monday 8th March 2010 there was a late (9pm) start for the minors B’s as they opened their 2010 Division 3 league campaign away to St Brigids in Russell Park’s floodlit artificial surface pitch. On an icy cold night the result was never in doubt as Crokes romped home by 5-13 to 2-4. The winners led 2-6 to 1-2 at the break and were best served by midfielder Niall Hanley, wing back Jamie Clinton, Brian McHenry and James Butler up front, Shane Moran and Barry O’Farrell. Scorers for Crokes: Nico Salvino and Fionnain Motherway (1-3 each), James Butler (1-2), Brian McHenry and Andy Cullinane (1-1 each) and Jack O’Brien, Jamie Clinton and Niall Hanley (0-1 each)

On Saturday 13th March 2010 there was a full programme of Dublin games from under 12 down. For report on under 12B game against Round Towers (Clondalkin) see HERE
