Féile na nGael postponed 'til next week due to bad weather
Saturday 16th May opened on a downer with the Dublin wide postponement of Feile na nGael due to adverse weather conditions. Dublin Minors v Laois
Dublin minors traveled to Portlaoise on Saturday afternoon to play Laois in the ESB Leinster Minor Hurling Championship quarter-final. Dublin led 1-2 to 0-3 at half time thanks to a Naomhan O’Reardan goal . Five and a half minutes into the second half Laois goaled to take control of the game. In the sixth minute of injury time a Sean McGrath goal, that would have leveled the game, was disallowed for a square ball and the midlanders won 1-9 to 1-6. Apart from O’Reardan and McGrath who started, Jack Doughan came on as a substitute and Crokes were also represented on the squad by Eddie O’Byrne, Cillian Doherty and Darren McVeigh with Pat Halpin being part of the management team. Intermediates draw with Port Laoise
After the minor game the Intermediates, who had traveled in support, played Portlaoise in a challenge. The game ended honours even at 3-9 to 2-12. The sign of good clubmen, two of the Dublin minors, Jack Doughan and Darren McVeigh, put their disappointment to one side and lined out. Aided by the wind and first half goals from Alan Tiernan and Doughan, Crokes led 2-8 to 0-3 at half time. The tables were turned in the second period where it took heroic defending particularly from Fergus Monnelly and Aidan Cleary and a brilliant goal from McVeigh to keep Crokes ahead. A goal deep into injury time secured the draw for the Portlaoise men, for whose post match hospitality we are very grateful.
Minor A's lose to Boden
On Sunday the Minor A’s lost to Ballyboden in Ballycullen in a Division 1 league game by six points, 1-12 to 0-9. For Crokes goalkeeper Eoin Dalton and Gary Melican were superb while top scorer was Darren McVeigh with four points (three frees). Also on the scoresheet were Mark O’Dwyer (0-2), Eddie O’Byrne, Matthew Kinsella and Naomhan O’Rearden all with one point. To see images from this match click HERE

Parental Assistance
We appeal to all parents of the new group to offer assistance in any way possible. No previous coaching experience is required and even periodic help is better than none at all. The success of the club relies on volunteers and it is a great way of getting to know other parents. If you are willing to offer any assistance in any capacity, whether it be coaching, roll, setting up pitches, tidying up pitches, etc. etc. please contact any of the following:

Quote from Parent
“As a parent who has 5 children in the club and 2 more about to start, I have got to know more people since I started helping out with my 5th child that I did bringing all my other children to training and matches. Your child will love to see you getting involved. And remember, these parents are the people you will be standing with on the sideline of pitches for the rest of your son's playing career! Many helpers lighten the load for everybody.”
