Week Ending 24th May 2009
Crokes beaten by Boden in Dublin Féile Final
Crokes progressed to the Dublin Division 1 Feile na nGael final for the second year in succession following a hectic day on Saturday 23rd May 2009. When it was all over two were left standing, Crokes and southside rivals Ballyboden St Endas. On a toss of a coin Crokes won home advantage and all roads led to Silverpark on a glorious Sunday morning 24th May 2009. A tight tense high quality game had a dramatic finale with Ballyboden snatching victory in the final moments by 2-5 to 0-9.
Under 12s win Glenalbyn Tournament
A good measure of compensation was to be had when the under 12A’s won their four club tournament on Sunday afternoon in Glenalbyn that was in excellent shape. An opening loss to O’Loughlin Gaels (Kilkenny) was offset by fine victories over Na Fianna and James Stephens (Kilkenny). This set up a final against the Moibhi Road side who had drawn with James Stephens and progressed on score difference. A superb display saw the Crokes boys victorious. In the B competition where James Stephens emerged winners the Crokes B team put in a great effort.
U10s do well on their travels
On Sunday morning the under 10’s set off for Cloughbawn, Co. Wexford. The locals, fielding a number of overage players by agreement, prevailed 8-1 to 6-2 in what was a very enjoyable outing for the Crokes squad. For report check back later.
Adult Match Action
Earlier in the week three qualifier group championship wins were recorded. In a well irrigated Silverpark on Wednesday evening the intermediates outscored St Brigids by 3-16 to 1-7, having led 2-10 to 1-5 at the break. In addition this game served to decide the scheduled AHL4 fixture between the sides on Saturday evening. Also on Wednesday the Junior B’s accounted for Naomh Fionnbarra at John Paul Park, 3-11 to 0-10.
On Thursday Islandbridge hosted the Junior C3’s 1-11 to 1-9 win over Civil Service. Crokes were well on top coming up to half time. A goal for the home team narrowed the gap to a single point, 0-7 to 1-3. With Paul Byrne, Brendan Halpin, Niall McIntyre, Mick Naughton and Padraig Doheny to the van, Crokes victory was a little more convincing than the final two point margin might suggest.

Parental Assistance
We appeal to all parents of the new group to offer assistance in any way possible. No previous coaching experience is required and even periodic help is better than none at all. The success of the club relies on volunteers and it is a great way of getting to know other parents. If you are willing to offer any assistance in any capacity, whether it be coaching, roll, setting up pitches, tidying up pitches, etc. etc. please contact any of the following:

Quote from Parent
“As a parent who has 5 children in the club and 2 more about to start, I have got to know more people since I started helping out with my 5th child that I did bringing all my other children to training and matches. Your child will love to see you getting involved. And remember, these parents are the people you will be standing with on the sideline of pitches for the rest of your son's playing career! Many helpers lighten the load for everybody.”
