Baker Tilly All-Ireland Long Distance Camogie 7s

Body

Our Baker Tilly All-Ireland Long Distance Camogie 7s takes place between the 17th and the 19th of September 2020. This year we’re delighted to welcome teams from as far afield as Australia and North America as well as all around Ireland.

While this is the 47th annual unbroken run for the Kilmacud Crokes Camogie 7s tournament, the Covid-19 crisis has prompted some big changes in this year’s format.

Starting from the 17th September and culminating with results on the 19th September 2020, teams all over the world will work their way through six camogie skill challenges from the socially-distant safety of their own club grounds.

There will be three competition grades, Cup, Shield and Plate appropriate for Senior, Intermediate and Junior teams respectively. Just like in the regular 7s, teams consist of ten players with the top seven scores counted for each skill. It’s expected to take a team an hour and a half to complete the full challenge. In the first round of the competition, scores from the first three of the skills being assessed will be used in head-to-head team pairings which will see half the teams continue into the Gold competition, with the losers heading into the Silver competition. In the second round, the scores from the remaining three skills will be used to decide the ultimate winners of each grade.

You can follow all the action on the event’s Instagram page (@kccamogie7s) or the Kilmacud Crokes’ camogie Facebook page and if you’re interested you can find the full competition rules on the event website www.longdistance7s.com.

We’re really looking forward to finding out which clubs have the best camogie skills in this first-of-a-kind simultaneous global camogie event. We wish all the competitors the very best of luck.
