Crokes Cyclists spin for Laura Lynn!
Paddy's Day cycle a great success
What has now become an annual event, the Crokes St Paddy’s day cycle was held yesterday. Over 60 cyclists took part in the 2 spins. This was the inaugural Paddy’s Day spin in the context of our new cycling group KC Wheelers within the club.
The larger group completed a round trip of over 90KM’s down to Wicklow and back. This group was organized into 3 groups on the road, based on ability and left the club at 7:30am in 10 minute intervals. The groups were ably managed on the road by Gerry Greene, Hugh Campbell, Donie Dowling, Liam O’ Carroll and Dave Byrne. A smaller group led by Niall Muldoon completed a shorter 35km spin leaving the club at the civilized hour of 11am.
The weather was very favorable and while it did not really warm-up , it was dry for the whole trip. The cyclists were supported on the road by Gerry Park and Mick Carolan. We were also treated to a fabulous food stop in Wicklow. Many Thanks to Mary Greene, Anne Foley and Noreen O’ Sullivan who laid this on.
Thanks to Diarmuid and Edel for getting up so early to take video and photo’s. Thanks also to Gerry Park who clicked away with his camera also. Last but not least, thanks to Mick Kinsella who laid on tea, coffee and sandwiches upon our return to the club. Through the generosity of the cyclists taking part who all made a donation for the Charity Laura Lynn, we raised 1180 euro. Many Thanks to all for their support. Roll on next year!
