Death Notice Anthony (Tony) O'Shaughnessy RIP
Kilmacud Crokes sends its sincere sympathies to Tony O’Shaughnessy’s wife Aighleann and sons Ruairi, Diarmuid and Fiachra on Tony’s death.
For many years Tony epitomised the volunteer ethos that is the backbone of GAA clubs throughout the country. From the time his boys were of age, he was active as a mentor in both hurling and football and went onto be a long serving secretary of the “Coiste na nOg” Section of the club. Tony was a great club man. He managed and mentored teams over the years and supported Coiste activities managing and setting up the pitches for home games for many years. In this Coiste role, Tony was a marvellous ambassador for Crokes at County Board level but also spent countless hours ensuring that the juvenile boys section of the club was run efficiently. In his true selfless spirit, he continued as Secretary for many years after his sons had outgrown the Coiste teams and when he finally stepped down, there were 6 positions created to fulfil all the tasks he had previously carried out!
In 2016, a memorable club night, the Coiste Section presented Aighleann and the boys with a “Hero of Coiste” award in respect of the great service Tony had given to Crokes.

Tony's funeral details are below
O’Shaughnessy, Tony (Dublin 14/Limerick City), 14 December 2021, peacefully in the care of Clonskeagh Nursing Home. Beloved husband of Aighleann and much loved father of Ruairí, Diarmuid and Fiachra. Very sadly missed by his loving family, sister Veronica, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Removal on Friday morning (17th December) to the Church of The Holy Cross, Dundrum, arriving for Funeral Mass at 11.30 am followed by private cremation. Family flowers only, please.
