Death Notice John Sheridan RIP

It is with great sadness that we must announce the passing of the great parish icon, John Sheridan.

Originally from Cavan, John was part of the Benburb contingent that merged with Kilmacud Crokes in 1972. Along with managing a vast array of teams, John can be credited for introducing Ladies Football in the club in 1996, with his brother Pat.

John was associated with the club from its inception as his brother Pat was a founding member of Kilmacud in 1959

In his early years in the club, John became a mentor with the Intermediate footballers and was their manager when they attained senior status by winning the Intermediate Championship in 1978. 

John was an ever present figure around the club and his tireless work over the years has made the club what it is today.

Our thoughts are with his family,  children Tara, Deidre, Rory and Brian,  brother Pat, sister Kathleen and his much adored  grandchildren including Molly who plays with our U13 team.

Funeral Details 

Sheridan,John - 29th January 2022 – (Dundrum, Dublin and formerly of Killinkere, Co. Cavan). Died peacefully at home after a short illness in the care of his loving family. Beloved husband to the late Rita, and adored father to Brian, Rory, Deirdre and Tara. Sadly missed by his loving family, grandfather to his treasured grandchildren, Emma, Adam, Molly, Cillian and Eoin, daughter-in-law Clare, sister Kathleen, brother Pat, sister in law Dympna, and brother in law Dan. Predeceased by his much-loved younger sister, Bridie. Sadly missed by his wonderful friends and neighbours.

Reposing at the family residence on Monday 31st January from 4:00pm – 8:00pm. John’s funeral Mass will take place at Holy Cross Church, Dundrum on Tuesday 1st of February at 11:30am with burial thereafter in Shanganagh Cemetery.
