KCWheelers Supporting Men's Health - Raising funds for Prostate Cancer Research
ANOTHER GREAT RESULT FOR KILMACUD CROKES !!
But not on the pitch this time. After the massive success of the M2M cycle in June for Breast Cancer Ireland, KC Wheelers took to their bikes again in November but this time it was the turn of the boys ! Over the weekend of 12th and 13th of November, 5 group led cycles were organised and even a few non led cycles took place as well, in support of Prostate Cancer Research.
It was great to see so many of the summer crew out again together in a much more relaxed atmosphere than the seriousness of the June adventure. A lot more coffee and slightly shorter routes and slower pace made for a very enjoyable weekend for everybody.
Most of the money raised was by The Wheelers themselves but there were also generous donations from club members and friends and a special donation from the Junior football team who were playing in their championship final on the same weekend. Much appreciated lads !!
An incredible €7,451.86 was raised on the weekend, way above any expectations and on Thursday 8th of December 3 of our members who have been through the disease and have come out the other side of it and are well on the road to full recovery were very happy to hand over the big cheque to the Irish Cancer Society on behalf of the club.
Great to see the lads looking so well and full credit to them for being so open about what they've been through. This is a lot harder than going out winning trophies for the club but if you talk to them, all they'll ask you to do is "Get yourselves checked lads" when you get into your 40's it's just a simple blood test and it could save your life. Well done lads !!
