Kickstart Hillwalkers enjoy a sweet (sorry) walk up Great Sugarloaf
After three very wet and snowy walks the weather gods finally shone on the kickstart hillwalkers as they enjoyed a dry and mild day on Saturday as they climbed the Sugarloaf. The walkers started at Kilmacanogue GAA pitch on the East side of the mountain and then climbed via the south and west sides before eventually making their ascent on the north side to the top. Here they enjoyed a well-earned hang sandwich and a great 360 view.
After a tricky enough initial descent the walk continued along the north side just above the Rocky Valley and then completed the full loop back to the GAA pitch. A nice 3 hour walk which left plenty of time for a quick snack in the local pub Plucks before heading home to see the Rugby match and prepare for the Gala night that evening.
This week's walk is a slightly tougher challenge of Camaderry in Glendalough which is nearly 700m high (Sugarloaf is 500m). We will meet in the club at the Hurling arena at 9.
