Kilmacud Crokes / BCI Nissan M2M2020 Challenge

Body

Following on from the success of the 2012, 2014, 2016 and 2018 events, a group of cyclists from the club will undertake a fifth M2M sponsored cycle. The event will cover 650km between Mizen and Malin  head and be held over a four and a half day period, commencing 27th May and finishing on the 31st May.  The funds raised, net of expenses, will be shared equally by the same two beneficiaries as in 2012, 2014, 2016 and 2018, namely:

Breast Cancer Ireland (“BCI”)

Kilmacud Crokes GAA Club (“Kilmacud Crokes”)

The cycle is being undertaken by members of Kilmacud Crokes and we have close to 90 folks signed up, representing all sections of the Club. For over 30 of the folks, it will be their 1st time completing the event.   They will be supported by up to 14 support crew in vans and on motor bikes. The Club is currently undertaking a significant review of its facilities and the Club’s share of any funds raised will be applied towards the improvement of facilities. The good work undertaken by BCI is well known to all and we are privileged to have BCI as our partners again this year. We are also very grateful for the continued support of Nissan as the primary sponsor of the event.  Over the last 4 cycles we have raised over €180k  each for BCI & Kilmacud Crokes and we hope to raise a further €100k for each of them this time round. Over the coming months, the cyclists will be focusing on training for the event as well as supporting additional fundraising activities like – static cycles / bag packing in shopping centers, quiz and music nights in the club. Each cyclist will have sponsorship cards and also an online facility so please give generously if asked to sponsor them.  Safety is our number one priority on the trip. Pictured are some of the cyclists completing their 3 hour mandatory safety workshop with Cycling Ireland coaches. All cyclists must complete this.   We wish the group a safe and enjoyable trip.
