Kilmacud Crokes selected for the Lidl “One Good Club” Youth Mental Health and Wellbeing Programme
Kilmacud Crokes is delighted to be one of 25 clubs selected for the Lidl “One Good Club” Youth Mental Health and Wellbeing Programme in conjunction with JIGSAW the National Centre for Youth Mental Health) and the LGFA.
Kilmacud Crokes has “a place for everyone” at the core of everything we do. With over 5,000 members and 222 teams from nursery-underage-minor-adult- veteran level so no matter your age or ability there is a team for you. The inclusive all-stars training every Friday continues to build momentum with the number of participants and coaches annually.
Within Kilmacud Crokes we pride ourselves on being a community club as well as a GAA club. As part of that there is the Healthy Club and Green Club Programmes. “Ciorcal Cainte” an Irish language conversation group meets every Thursday, The Crokes Choir and the KC Wheelies are also hugely active and the club facilitates weekly Bridge classes, fundraising events and most recently a men’s shed initiative.
This “One Good Club” programme is a 10 week programme where the entire Crokes Community will be challenged to undertake a series of mental health and wellbeing activities based on Jigsaw's 5 a day for your mental health and it will launch in Kilmacud Crokes at 12pm on Saturday 4th March at the Paddock.
The 5 themes over the course of the 10 weeks are
1) Be Active
2) Take Notice
3) Connect
4) Give
5) Keep Learning
Join us Saturday 4th March at 12pm in the Paddock for the launch and take part in our first “Be Active” event - a Cardio Dance Party for all ages!
We have a host of other events planned for the 5 themes and are looking forward to 10 weeks of fun, connection and community!
Jigsaw provide free, confidential, brief mental health supports for young people aged 12-25 in communities around Ireland and we are absolutely delighted to be selected for this initiative and look forward to working with Jigsaw, Lidl and the LGFA over the coming 10 weeks.
