RIP- Elizabeth (Betty) Killeen (née O'Connell)

The community of Kilmacud Crokes GAA Club is saddened to learn of the death of our friend, energetic volunteer and member of so many years Betty Killeen. Betty, with her husband Christy, made such a wonderful contribution to our club as it evolved in those early years and to the community of Kilmacud and Stillorgan. Betty was a proud flag bearer for Clare and she enjoyed every aspect of the culture of that great County. Her grandson Brian currently plays senior hurling with the club and also has an All Ireland Senior club Football medal with Kilmacud Crokes

Betty and Christy's family of Moira, Fiona, Niamh, John, Brian, Aidan and Ronan and her grandchildren have made a huge contribution to our club both on and off the field for decades.

KILLEEN (née O’Connell) Elizabeth (Betty) (Upper Kilmacud Road, Co. Dublin and Ballymakea More, Quilty, Co. Clare) Peacefully, surrounded by her devoted family, on Sunday, October 6th, 2024, in her 86th year, in the exceptional care of St. Michael’s Hospital, Dun Laoghaire, and earlier in Orchard Respite Centre and Leopardstown Care Centre. Remembered with love by her husband Christy and family, daughters Moira, Fiona and Niamh, sons John, Brian, Aidan and Ronan, adored 20 grandchildren, sons-in-law John, Richard and Walter, daughters-in-law Sarah, Katie and Charleen, sister-in-law Mary, brothers-in-law Maurice, Albert and Francis, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and a wide circle of friends. A special thanks to her wonderful carers who helped in keeping Betty in the comfort of her own home as long as medically possible.

Removal on Tuesday, 8th October, to the Church of St. Laurence O’Toole, Kilmacud, A94 CY83, arriving for Prayers at 5pm. Funeral Mass on Wednesday, 9th October, at 1pm in St. Mary’s Church, Mullagh, Co. Clare. after Mass Betty will be laid to rest in Mullagh Cemetery.
