The Junior A team played Naomh Fionnbarra on Sunday morning, 22 July 2012, in the league. The game was played in Silverpark and Crokes were against the breeze in the first half.

We were slow to settle but opened our account with a point from a free from Conor. Our visitors struck back with two quick goals, to put it up to us. We settled down and chipped away at their lead, with points from Conor again from frees and a 65 and Fionnan. Meanwhile our backs tightened the screws on the visitors’ forwards. With David, James and Fergus dominating their men we were flooding forward in waves and Conor struck for a goal, following great work by Conal and Barry, to put us ahead. Finnbars came back with points from frees but, following good work by Matthew and Peter, Damien put us a point ahead at the break, with another fine point. We ended the first half with Crokes leading by 1-06 to 2-02.

With the breeze at our back we pushed on in the second half. Our backs were magnificent and only conceded one point from a free in the entire second half.  Emmet Karl and Ray were to the fore and Paddy was assured at all times. Up front we were made to work hard and scores were hard to come by, but Conor kept tapping over the frees and Fionnan had another lovely score while under serious pressure. Then Damien was put in by Joe and MacDara, to score our second goal and put daylight between us. Finbarrs were reduced to 14 men after 45 minutes and we used the extra man well, pulling away with scores from Matthew, Jamie and Eoin, with the assistance of Matt.

This left the final score Kilmacud Crokes 2-12 Naomh Fionnbarra 2-03.
