Body

On Saturday the 21st June Kilmacud U.12 team played St. Vincents in the county cup final, having played a thrilling semi-final the previous week against Whitehall.Kilmacud took to the field without the semi finalist man of the match Shane Veale all raised their game and made  light of the conditioins which you would associate more with winter having teamed out of the heavens for the entire hour.

Kilmacud hit the ground running with their opponents second to every ball our goalie Tadhg Murphy was redundent in the first half and all our backs totally on top supplying great ball into our forwards. Mickey Crowley opened our account with a very well struck 65 which was quickly followed up by a well taken goal by Eamon Allen. Mickey Crowley struck another 65 to leave us well on top. There was not one area of the pitch that Kilmacud were not in control of thanks to the very strategic positioning of the mentors covering both sides of the pitch and encouraging all players. The move of the match lead to another score with Sean Crowe beating his man with a ground stroke, doubled on by Sean Keating in mid field to the little dyenamo himself Adam O Neill jab picking the sliothar shortening the grip and firing the ball over the bar. One further point before half time thanks to Eoin Mcmahon.

It was to prove a game of two halves with Crokes unable to regiser a score in the second half. Our backs came under tremendous pressure in the second half demonstrating many excellent blocks and hooks all the hours of pratice drills were put to good use.Tadhg Murphy produced many fine saves with only a deflected shot beating him.Ryan Murphy, Peter Herilhy,Tom Duke and vice captain Stephen Doyle were solid throughout in the defence. Outstanding on the day was Daniel Coakley on the half forward line a kid that has finished the season very strongly with speedy Conor Gowing always a threat in the inside forward line.On his introduction Mark McCallion played a big part in keeping the ball down field.

Sean keating accepted the cup on behalf of the team and in his speech he paid special tribute to Shane Veale who unfortunately was injured. This is a team now that has its sights firmly set on Feile 2010.................. Bring it on..................... Well done Lads
