U10’s offer some advice to the Hurler of the Year

Body

Having a Bye in their most recent GO games afforded the U10’s the perfect opportunity to accept an invitation from James Stephens to travel down to Kilkenny to play some games against the local lads. A real bonus for the young Crokes boys was the appearance of star Kilkenny players Eoin Larkin and Jackie Tyrell after the games to offer some tips and sign autographs.

The matches themselves were played in St Kierans College, a famous cradle of Kilkenny hurling, on a couple of perfectly manicured pitches. On the back pitch Kilmacud paid dearly for a string of first-half wides and the concession of some soft scores and James Stephens ran our comfortable winners in the end. The match on the front pitch was a competitive affair and the Crokes fifteen gave a real gutsy performance before being edged out by the Kilkenny boys. A big thanks to Rob Kinsella and his talented group of U9’s Sean, Ed, Mark and Tom for helping us to make up the numbers and a special thanks also to Tony Scanlon from James Stephens who kindly arranged both the games and the appearance of Eoin and Jackie and ensured we were well looked after on the day.
