On a warm Saturday morning, with threatening skies, the Crokes boys tookon the Whitehall Under 12's in the first league match of the season. Donal Keane scored Crokes' first point, which eased the nerves of the somewhat edgy travelling support. Minutes later Dara O Gallchobhair notched up another point from a 20 metre free. Whitehall then responded with a well-taken goal, putting them a point up. Ciaran McIntyre was battling hard on the wing, feeding the fowards with plenty of ball, one of which Adam Spollen (full forward) pulled on, to hit the back of the net for Crokes' first goal. Moments later the in-form Spollen scored another fine goal, putting Crokes into the driving seat. Athird goal followed, from a high ball in from Dara O Gallchobhair, which the goalkeeper failed to block. Cian MacGabhann's 65 saw sparkling Spollen bat the ball into the back of the net once again. Stephen Faughey then caught the sliotar, soloed and scored a delightful point. At the other end, Whitehall pointed a free and the first half finished with Crokes 4-03 up against Whitehall's 1-01.

The second half started with Whitehall piling on the pressure, but the full-back line of Ferdia Rogers, Andrew Price and Gregory Buckley kept them at bay, while Goalkeeper Michael O'Dwyer made some impressive saves. Half back line Graham Healy-Hayes, Cian MacGabhann and Conor Egan made some great clearances to relieve the pressure on the defence. Midfielders Ronan Horgan and Cathal Keane-Breslin worked diligently against the strong Whitehall midfield. Brian Molloy worked tirelessly in the forward line. Although Whitehall scored two points from frees, the Crokes lads finished strongly, with a goal from Tadhg Costelloe and a goal and a point from Dara O Gallchobhair

A comfortable win for the Stillorgan team.
