Competitive challenge v Craughwell

A senior hurling selection made the journey to Salthill to watch the Dubs on Sunday. On the way we played Craughwell in a very competitive friendly. Crokes were slow to get moving with Craughwell first to score. As the first half wore on we came into the game more with a number of fine points from Caolan and James to leave the score 7 points to 6 in favour of Craughwell at half time.

A lot of subs were introduced at half time by both teams but there was no let up in the intensity in the second half. Crokes were denied 2 goals by an outstanding goalkeeper but we continued to tap over points with Ciaran McIntyre and Barry Horan to the fore. Our backs were very tight with the stand out moment being a diving block by Hoppy to prevent a certain score. At the long whistle it was Crokes 0 15 Craughwell 0 14.

This was a good workout and allowed the new manager Ollie Baker get a further good look at the players in a competitive setting in preperation for the first round of league matches on the first weekend of March
