MINOR A & MINOR B THROUGH TO THE COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP FINALS
Minor As v Ballinteer St. Johns (0-15 v 0-4).
A sunny O'Toole park was the venue for the Minor A championship semi final where Crokes took on Ballinteer St Johns. St Johns had a bright start but soon Crokes
took control of the game with 4 unanswered points. Dominating in all areas of
the field and with some well taken frees the nerves were settled and Crokes led
0-7 to 0-2 at half time.
After the break Crokes came out fighting and drove on
from their first half lead, pointing the ball within minutes of the restart.
Though St Johns battled on Crokes played with passion maintaining possession
for the first 15mins of the half and with same great defensive play. Crokes
defense threw their bodies on the line and they stopped St Johns from striking
the back of the net. Crokes challenged every ball and won many of both their
own and St Johns kick-outs. Crokes saw off their opposition finishing with a
comfortable 0-15 to 0-4 win setting themselves up for a local derby final
against Cuala. A special word of thanks to our
Medical assistants Trisha & Eileen for attending to the injured players
during the match. Well done also to the Minor B Team on reaching their
championship final. A team who were pushed a grade for the championship and
have defeated many first teams on route to the final where they will take on
Raheny.
