1976 - Third Senior Title for Crokes
Third Senior Title
Kilmacud Crokes won the club’s third Dublin Senior Hurling Championship with a 0-17 to 2-8 verdict over Craobh Chiaran at Parnell Park. The experienced Crokes, with at least four Railway Cup men in the side, had all but two – Hogan and Hayes- of the 1974 championship winning team in action. The club had overcame ballyboden St Endas in the semi-final.
For the final the younger Donneycarney team were installed as favourites. Crucial to the Crokes win, according to Damien McElroy in the Evening Herald of 19th July 1976 was their ability to contain Chiaran’s sharp shooter, Eamonn Flynn, even though he managed to account for 2-6 of the loser’s total. The Kilmacud team on the other hand had scoring contributions from six players, Ring, Bermingham, Hackett, Hogan, Fox and Ryan while the winners outstanding players were Cooney, Frank Kenny, Hogan, Bermingham and Hackett.
