U14As v O'Loughlin Gaels, 26 March 2006
The U 14A’s took on the U.14 O’ Loughlin Gaels’ team on a miserable afternoon in Kilkenny last Sunday 26th March. Crokes attacked from the start. Mark O’Dwyer opened the score with a goal from a free. He hit over another two nice points in the first half. Forwards Kevin Murphy and Jamie Clinton worked hard up front. The backs Steven Beale, Fiachra Lynn, Gary Melican, Darren Lawlor, James O’Keefe and Niall Murphy battled hard and cleared balls effortlessly throughout the game. Substitutes Niko Salvino, Justin Cassidy and Oisín Ó’Gallchobhair gave extra momentum to the game, with Justin scoring a goal and a point and Niko sending over a lovely point in the second half, while Oisín sent a ball in to Báetán Teague, who finished it off by hitting it into the back of the net. The first half finished with Crokes ahead 3-03. Although O’Loughlin Gaels pressurised from time to time they failed to score.
The second half began with Crokes playing with the wind. This half saw Mark O’Dwyer scoring two more points. Midfielders Dylan Mulligan and Eoin O’Dwyer supplied the forwards Tom Clarke and Mark O’Dwyer with great passes, converting them into a goal and two points respectively. Nathan Timmons and Karl Russell battled gamely throughout. Finally Sam Cosgrave knocked over a lovely point and the match finished with a final score of 4-07 to no score. Paddy Tighe keeping another clean sheet, as O‘Loughlin Gaels failed to take their chances.
