All Stars
As a community club, children of all abilities have enjoyed being part of Kilmacud Crokes and different sections for very many years. In recent times we have structured this into a dedicated part of the Club called The All Stars Team.
We have weekly, inclusive training sessions – better known as Friday Sports Club. Sessions are 4-5pm Fridays (during the School term) in The Paddock. Orlaith Doran leads a team of experienced coaches and TY coaches, who volunteer every week, make it all possible and so much fun.
We enjoy fabulous support across all the playing sections. We have had great fun over the years with all the Silverware, with the players expecting to hold the various cups, days after they have been won.
Many of the Senior Players come along to spend time and train/play with the kids. It is hugely appreciated and enjoyed by all, players, siblings and parents. The time given is of enormous benefit to the kids & their siblings and means a huge amount to many parents and coaches. We really appreciate our players' generosity when so many demands are placed on them.
The highlight of our All Stars year was an invitation to Croke Park on 22nd August for the First All Ireland All Stars Blitz. Minister Jack Chambers, launched the All Stars Blitz, which was organised by Ger McTavish, GAA Diversity & Inclusion specialist. Our very own Orla Reck was singled out for special mention on the day, for her huge contribution to the GAA Inclusion journey. We had a fantastic day - a bit of hurling, football, cartwheels and juggling - thanks as always to our super All Stars, our amazing coaches, siblings & parents for bringing their great energy to every session. Of course this was not our first visit to Croke Park. We showcased the GAA Fun and Run game at the Beyond Limits Summit for Young People with disabilities in 2019.
