Playing with the wind in the first-half Dublin were 12 points up at the break thanks to the free-taking of Shane Bonfil and goals from John Matthews, and a brace from Conor O’Neill.
Westmeath battled back in the second-half and reduced the lead to six points but a well taken goal from Bonfil sealed the win for Dublin.
