Week Ending 22nd March 2009
In AHL4 the Intermediates played Good Counsel in Silverpark. Shea Gillen struck for an early goal and point. Shane Canny’s seventeenth minute point, after a good run, put the home side 1-4 to 0-1 clear. That was to be their last score of the half as ascendancy switched to the Drimnagh team and the margin at the break was three, 1-4 to 0-5.
Five minutes into the second half full forward Niall Butler’s run was brought to a halt by a foul. Darragh Burke converted. Ten minutes later the same player repeated the trick. Good Counsel immediately pulled one back. Then Damien Byrne made his mark with an over from 50 metres. Crokes spurned a number of chances as the game became increasingly fractious.
By the fifty seventh minute the visitors trailed 1-7 to 0-7. Shortly after, Kevin Dalton restored the four point margin, 1-8 to 0-7, with the final score of the game. As the game drew to the close the long threatening red card came for one of the Good Counsel team, following an incident that left one of the Crokes players with a broken cheekbone. In what was a difficult assignment, to the fore for the winners were goalkeeper, Richie Tighe, full back Andrew Hopkins, Fergus Monnelly, Declan Browne, and, especially in the latter stages, Niall Lillis.

Regular users will have noticed some recent additions such as the installation of external lights, enhanced door security and cameras.
Our sixth annual Kilmacud Crokes Hurling Corporate Race Day takes place in Punchestown on Tuesday 28th April 2009 and proceeds go towards the cost of the Arena. The event has gone from success to success and bookings are now being taken. Donations or spot prizes remain very welcome. Parental Assistance
We appeal to all parents of the new group to offer assistance in any way possible. No previous coaching experience is required and even periodic help is better than none at all. The success of the club relies on volunteers and it is a great way of getting to know other parents. If you are willing to offer any assistance in any capacity, whether it be coaching, roll, setting up pitches, tidying up pitches, etc. etc. please contact any of the following:

Quote from Parent
“As a parent who has 5 children in the club and 2 more about to start, I have got to know more people since I started helping out with my 5th child that I did bringing all my other children to training and matches. Your child will love to see you getting involved. And remember, these parents are the people you will be standing with on the sideline of pitches for the rest of your son's playing career! Many helpers lighten the load for everybody.”
