Report Week Ended 11th July 2010

Body

Team of the week were the under 15’s who captured the Division 1 league title with a hard fought one point victory over Ballyboden St Enda’s on Sunday morning 11th July 2010.  A late point from substitute Mark McCallion proved decisive.  Many congratulations to all concerned.  For report see HERE

Not far behind them were the Junior A’s who on Friday 9th July 2010 continued their unbeaten AHL5 league run with an impressive 1-16 to 1-5 away win against Naomh Fionnbarra.  For report see HERE

On Wednesday night (7th July 2010) the top two adult teams were away.  In AHL1 the seniors trip across town to Moibhi Road produced a dividend in the form of two league points with an 0-16 to 0-11 win over Na Fianna.  For report see HERE

The Intermediates were not as fortunate in AHL3.  Featuring six minors, with Jonathon Healy-Hayes and Alex Pilkington particularly prominent, they almost took a major scalp before going down by a point to Round Towers at Clondalkin Community Centre.  A late free awarded to the home team left the Crokes management less than happy.  For report see HERE

The under 14B’s had a very impressive Division 3 win over Ballinteer St Johns on Tuesday evening 6th July 2010 in Silverpark.  Two early goals and a point gave Crokes the dream start and they were rarely troubled thereafter.  At the break it was 4-7 to 0-0 and the game concluded at 7-16 to 2-6.  Due to a shortage of Crokes manpower both teams lined out with fourteen players.  For report see HERE

The other game scheduled for Silverpark on Tuesday, against Castleknock in AHL5, was postponed as a mark of respect to the late club stalwart Mick Walsh, whose son Joe plays for the team.

Thursday saw the under 16’s travel to Kilkenny to play Dicksboro in a challenge.  On a very good pitch but on a wet evening playing conditions were difficult.  In spite of this both sides put in a whole hearted effort at the end of which Crokes, who had many positives to take from the match, were at the wrong end of a 4-7 to 2-11 scoreline.

Squad:

M Herlihy, P O’Shea, D Corish, A Colclough, C O’Dwyer, C Devins, J Murphy, C Conway (0-3, f-2), M Geraghty, T Barry, KJ McGowan, M McNicholas (1-1), B Horan (1-0), C Sweeny, N Gorey (0-7, f-3), D Keane, M O’Dwyer, E Campion and C McIntyre.

The same evening the Junior E’s went to Pairc Barrog where, in spite of the best efforts of Ciaran O’Callaghan, Cian O’Brien and Emmet Doherty, they found Naomh Barrog too hot to handle in AHL8, losing 3-15 to 0-6 (half time 3-9 to 0-6)
