Report Week Ending 12th September 2010
Body
Sunday 12th September 2010 was a productive day in particular for the two minor squads in their opening championship round robin games. Away the minor A’s showed great heart in overcoming St Vincents by 2-8 to 1-7 in MHCA. The victory was secured with a late point and goal. For report see HERE
The minor B’s were in action at Silverpark against St Brigids in MHCC. In blustery conditions they made a great start and led 2-10 to 0-4 at the break. By the eighteenth minute all six forwards had scored. In the second half Crokes tired and the game ended level, 2-14 to 3-11, although the Crokes partisans had their score at 2-15. Best for the home team were Brian McHenry, Conor O’Dwyer, Jamie Clinton and Conor Devins
In the unfamiliar surrounds of O’Toole Park for such a game the under 15’s defeated Na Fianna 3-13 to 3-5. They had already secured the title and the game was played in the Crumlin venue to honour the memory of the late Jim Boggan of that club in whose memory a new trophy was presented. For report see HERE
On the road were the under 9 who went to Kilkenny for the James Stephens tournament. An eventful and enjoyable day was crowned with a final appearance where the Crokes boys had to give best to Castlecomer. For report see HERE
On Saturday it was disappointment for the under 16’s in their championship tie with Cuala at Silverpark. An early goal gave the visitors a lead they never relinquished. At half time it was 1-3 to 0-4 and the same margin separated the sides at the conclusion 1-7 to 0-8. There can be little argument about the result as Crokes failed to capitalise on chances and never performed with conviction.
