Report Week Ending 31st October 2010
As Autumn gives way to Winter the hurling year winds down
At 8.30am on Saturday 30th October 2010 a combined under 13/14 squad left Glenalbyn for Camlough, Co Armagh to take part in the local Craobh Rua’s under 14 tournament, which was a credit to all concerned. A very enjoyable day’s hurling in good sunshine featured games against the hosts, Fenians from Johnstown Co Kilkenny and Kevin Lynch’s of Dungiven Co Derry.
Squad: K Fleming, S Gorman, F Tucker, R Geraghty, H Barry, M O’Rourke, A Ahern, N Sweeny, D Butler, S Rizvi, A Considine, M Hogan, A Healy, C O’Cleirigh, S Crossan, L de Courcy and J Dalton.
The following morning the under 14B’s were due to finish off their Division 3 campaign playing Naomh Olafs at Pairc de Burca. Weather intervened to close the venue and Silverpark 2.
The under 15’s lined out against Thomas Davis in the Shield final at Kiltipper Road. It took the opposition twenty minutes to score by which time Crokes had racked up 1-8. The second half was more of the same with the Stillorgan boys coming home 4-12 to 0-4 clear. For report click on the newspaper image on the left or see HERE
Team: E Allen, K Doyle, O O’Siochru, G Buckley, S Bedford, D O’Murchu, R Horgan, C MacGabhann (0-4), D O’Gallchobhair, C McIntyre (0-2), M O’Loughlin (2-5), C Hayes, A Spollen, D Mullin (1-0), B O’Sullivan. Subs D Paisley for B O’Sullivan, M O’Dywer (0-1) for M O’Loughlin, C Keane-Breslin for G Buckley, R Conlan (1-0) for C Hayes and E Campion for A Spollen.
11.30 gave us the unusual situation of one of the Division 1 under 14 teams (KC2) playing a home game against Ballyboden at the latter’s all weather Sancta Maria. Crokes trailed by a point 1-2 to 1-1 at the break. Early second half scores put Crokes in the driving seat. Boden retaliated before the Kilmacud boys re-asserted themselves to win 5-4 to 3-2. The win secured the Division 1 runners up spot for KC2 with leading performers in Eoin Sheehy, Stephen McEntee, Cathal Keane, Joey Dalton and Conn O’Cleirigh
Team: J Gibbons, C Walsh, C Keane, S McEntee, M Connor, E Sheehy, R Hayes, S O’Dwyer, A Tuck, S Crossan, C Kelly, M Hogan, S Gorman, A Considine, C O’Cleirigh. Sub J Dalton for S Gorman.

A meeting for parents of new boys who have recently started at the Kilmacud Crokes Hurling Nursery was held in Glenalbyn on Tuesday September 28th. At the meeting Hurling Coach Niall Corcoran outlined the coaching aims that we are trying to achieve within the nursery as well as outlining how the hurling nursery is structured. We got a good response from parents that were willing to help out in the nursery, which is crucial to the success of the nursery.
We would encourage anybody who is interested in giving a hand out at the nursery to make him or herself known to Niall or the head coach organising a particular skills station on the morning.
When parents and children arrive in the morning, Marion will be taking the registration for both the 2005 & 2004 groups. If anybody is in a position to help with registration please make yourself known to Marion at the start of the session.
