Match report for KMD 1:

KMD 1 had 3 great games at the Cuala blitz today.  Team included Patrick, Derron, Darragh, Hugh Moran and Leyden, Sam, Sean C., Kevin, Gavin, Conor Hughes and McCarthy.  The team were deserving winners against both Cuala and Ballinteer and they lost narrowly in the last game against Ballyboden though we had most possession and lots of chances to score but just failed to hit the target in the last game.  U9 rules were played so we had  half of the time with ground and half with air hurling.  KMD 1 played their best game against Ballinteer as this was a close contest but the team played well together and also blocked the Ballinteer players several times.  It is great to see the improvement made by the players since the start of the year.  Most players are now well capable of rising and striking the ball - a much smaller percentage were able to do this at the start of the year.

the Kilmacud teams 1 and 2 were the top 2 teams in this 4 team blitz so it is great to see that the hard work by the U8 players and mentors is really paying off.  It was great warm hurling weather and a great day was had by players and parents alike.  Brian Harrison

   Summary match report for KMD2

Three great matches for this group of Kilmacud's 2003 hurling stars as 9 players in total lined out for Kilmacud Crokes team 2 [Daniel, Oisin, Eamonn, Arthur, Barra, Eric, Brendan, Jordan and Kieran]. In their first match they faced up to Ballyboden and we clearly found our scoring boots in the tournament quicker than the opposition putting a goal and a point past them in the first half while keeping 'Boden scoreless. It was a much closer match in the second half as both sides lifted the pace of the game with neither side able to score. Final result 1-1 to 0-0. Onto the second where we were pitted against Ballinteer. This was probably our best match with lots of the team working for each other, lots of passing, and some of our scores coming from two or three 'Crokes players stringing passes together to move it the length of the pitch and into the goal in a single movement. The first half finished 3-1 to 1-0 with Crokes in the lead and we tagged on another goal in the second half to run out 4-1 to 1-0 winners.Onto our final match which was against Cuala. You could see the effects of the first two intensive games as this match started. With no subs available to us, some of the Crokes players were clearly starting to feel a bit tired after 40 minutes of hurling in the first two games. By the time we got to the half way break we were a goal down with the score reading 1-0 to 2-0. As the Crokes players huddled around for the final half-time team-talk, the management asked them for one last big push in the second half. Every single player on the team answered the call with a huge effort put in by all nine players for the last ten minutes. A sigh of relief went up when Crokes smashed over a lovely point from about 30 yards out. With three equivalent goals for every point scored over the bar, the lead was further cemented with a second point mind way through the half. And in the final moments of the game, the ball was driven up the field, jab-lifted, the whistle blew for full time, and just too late it was put away over the bar for a final score that we luckily didn't need. A super second half, and a great finish to the game which ended with a Crokes win under a scoreline of 1-2 to 2-0. A great day all round and congratulations to all the boys on the team.  John Maguire
