Senior A's beat Ballinteer in Championship
Kilmacud Crokes 4-17, Ballinteer St John's 0-08
On a glorious summer evening, Crokes took to the pitch to play their last group game of the 2012 Senior Hurling Championship. Playing against a St John’s side short of a number of their young talent through injury, Crokes hoped to maintain the intensity theu had shown when overcoming Craobh Chiarain’s in the last Championship outing.
From the start, Croke’s were in control and were 1-02 up before St John’s registered their first and only point from play. Crokes had amassed a further 1-05 before St John’s added their second point from a converted free. When the half time whistle sounded, Crokes led by 16 points with a score of 3-09 to 0-02, Croke’s were playing well in all positions.
The second half was a tighter affair than the first, while St Johns added 6 points from converted frees, Croke’s kept the score board ticking over with a goal and eight points added during the half. At the final whistle Crokes held a winning twenty one point advantage with a final score of 4-17 to 0-08.
Overall, it was a commanding performance against a weakened St John’s side, all played with a disciplined intensity and it leaves Croke’s topping the group and qualifying for the quarter finals, scheduled to be played in September. Craobh Chiarain’s beat St Pats over in Parnell Park and also come out of our group.
