The Kilmacud Crokes Club Community  is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Danny Ryan, a true club legend and one of the defining figures in our history.

A dual member of the Club Team of the Millennium, former Senior Hurling Captain, selector, committee member, volunteer and mentor, Danny gave a lifetime of service to Crokes. He embodied everything that is best about our club. His contribution on and off the field was immense, from leading teams to success to helping generations of players develop and thrive. Danny was a gifted hurler, a wise judge of talent and, above all, a kind and genuine true gentleman. He will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Danny was also an accomplished footballer. He was a member of teams who won  titles across Junior Football Championship, Intermediate Football League and Championship, Senior Football in Divisions 2 and 3. He won the 1985 Senior Hurling Championship and the 1989 Murphy Cup.

He was also heavily involved in supporting Ladies Football and gave unselfishly of his  time to support the growth and development of this section, which  has  now become the fastest growing section in the club.

In the early staging of the M2M charity cycle events, Danny volunteered and provided support as one of the van drivers.

Danny had the unique distinction of being involved in the Kilmacud 7's Tournaments across 5 decades - in many different roles, player, umpire, volunteer.

Danny's brothers Kevin, Billy and Frank have all been involved in the club as was his mother Mrs Tess Ryan.

Over the last 3 year's Danny has been a prominent member of the Kilmacud Community Men's Shed and has made lots of new friends who will now miss him dearly. He was a regular attendee at the Thursday Pitch and Putt sessions and  in supporting Laura Lynn as a volunteer.  The Shed have cancelled this weeks Pitch and Putt session as a mark of respect to Danny.  Laura Lynn also sent a beautiful message of tribute to the Shed  in memory of Danny

Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with the Ryan family, his many friends and all who mourn his loss.
