U15B v Skerries Harps
On Sunday 10th April, Crokes Under 15B played their fifth league match of the season against Skerries Harps in Silverpark. The two sides were well known to each other with many of the players having crossed swords previously in the Under 13 League.
The lads have started to show a great determination over the past few weeks at training, and their hard work was rewarded today.
From the throw-in, the lads applied themselves to the task at hand, getting their hands to the ball and winning the majority of the 50/50 challenges around the field. Crokes passed the ball efficiently and smoothly, leading to scoring opportunities and kept the scoreboard ticking over.
At half time they had moved into a lead of 6-11 to 1-2. After the halftime interval, the Crokes lads worked hard to restrict Skerries’ forward momentum and turned over ball successfully, preventing shots on goal. This endeavour allowed Crokes to retain the ball, leading to further attacks and the lads took their second half scores well.
Skerries Harps, although missing a number of their starting fifteen, never dropped their heads and played their hardest throughout and deserve great credit.
The full squad are starting to show the passion, determination, and perseverance necessary to succeed. They are in fourth place in the League with a game in hand on the leaders. The League campaign continues on Sunday 24th April with a return fixture against St. Sylvester’s in Silverpark, who pushed Crokes very hard in the first match of the season, before the Championship in May.
