A Weekend to Remember – Double Cup Glory and a Remarkable Group Effort

Sixty boys from the Kilmacud Crokes 2010 hurling group headed into Féile na nGael Cup Final weekend off the back of a strong qualification performance. Across Divisions 1, 3, and 9, our three teams played nine group matches, winning seven and securing an impressive 15 out of a possible 18 points – a tremendous return at this level.

The A team were drawn in Division 1, hosted in Portmarnock. The B team competed in Division 3, based in Tymon North, and our C team took part in Division 9, with games held in Dolphin Park.

Division 1 Champions – Two in a Row Div 1 Titles

In Division 1, our A team delivered a solid display in the semi-final, overcoming St Vincent’s by six points to book their place in the final. There, they faced the hosts and
reigning Football Féile champions, Naomh Mearnóg.

A goal from Brian Farrell just before half-time gave Crokes the lead at the break, and the boys built on that momentum in the second half to seal a convincing win on a scoreline of 1-10 to 1-4. Brian Farrell lifted the Division 1 Féile na nGael Cup, adding to the Under-14 Championship trophy he collected on behalf of the team last October.

Division 3 Semi-Finalists – A Performance to Be Proud Of

Our B team in Division 3 also put in a superb showing. In a division of just A teams, they progressed from the group stages after strong wins against Ranelagh Gaels and Kevins HC.

Drawn against tournament co-hosts and favourites Faughs A, the boys pushed them all the way in the semi-final. Ultimately, Faughs edged the tie by a single score and went on to win the Division 3 Cup – a measure of how close our lads came. It was a performance full of courage and skill.

Division 9 Champions – C Team Glory

The Division 9 team capped off the weekend with another terrific performance, qualifying directly for the final after impressive group stage displays. In the final, played on the home ground of their opponents Kevins HC B, the Crokes lads dug deep in a high-scoring contest to pull clear and lift the Division 9 Cup.

It was a fitting reward for a team that, like their Division 1 counterparts, had already tasted Championship success at U14 level last autumn.

An Outstanding Group Effort

This Féile marked the culmination of months of hard work – stretching all the way back to late 2024, with focused preparation beginning in earnest at the turn of the year. It was a campaign built on commitment, support, and the strong collective spirit of the 2010 group.

We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to:

  • All players who gave everything they had.
  • Parents who supported the boys in every way imaginable – from sideline encouragement to endless lifts, food, and photos.
  • The wider club, Féile committees, and everyone who helped make the weekend such ma success.
  • The 2009 and 2011 management teams for their cooperation around player availability.
  • Our football colleagues, who have themselves enjoyed Féile silverware success in recent weeks.
  • Our generous sponsors, who helped us look the part and play with pride.

What’s Next

The boys now switch their focus to the league campaign, which begins on 18th May for all three panels. And we’re proud to confirm that our Division 1 team has once again qualified for the National Féile, which will take place in Wexford on 21st June.

After a short Easter break, the group will return to training refreshed and ready for the next chapter.

It’s been a wonderful few days – and a brilliant end to this phase of the season. Well done to all involved.
