Minor A’s beat Vincents
High point of the week was the minor “A’s” 2-13 to 1-4 win over St Vincents in Silverpark on Sunday morning. By the fiteenth minute Crokes were 1-5 to 0-1 ahead and seemingly coasting. However, they allowed the northsiders back into the game and but for four Vincents wides the gap might have been much tighter than 1-5 to 1-3 at half time. The second half was a different story with Crokes domination only allowing the opposition a single point from a free. In reply Crokes totted up 1-8. On a morning when Crokes had many stars Conor Clinton, Mark Coughlan, William McEvoy, Eoin Culligan, Barra O’Leidhin and Kevin O’Loughlin were to the fore. Victory gives Crokes a semi final place against St Davids.

Seniors go down to Cuala
On Saturday 6th Ocober 2007 the Kilmacud Crokes seniors took on Cuala in the second round robin game of the 2007 hurling championship. A bright start saw Crokes two points clear within two minutes. However that was as good as it got. The remaning 58 minutes proved a tit for tat war of attrition with the Dalkey side showing more appetite and running out deserving 1-14 to 0-14 winners. For images of this match see HERE or cllick on image below. Crokes now face Ballyboden in Parnell Park at 8.15 pm on Wednesday, in a game that will decide their champiuonship fate.
Juvenile Action
On Sunday afternoon both under 13 teams had games in Division 1 of the league. One team playeed St Brigids in Deerpark while the other faced St Judes in Silverpark. The Brigids encounter proved hard fought with the Kilmacud boys emerging 3-4 to 1-8 winners. Ahead 1-2 to 0-3 at half time it took great fighting qualities to withstand heavy Brigids pressure. Among the Crokes stars were Andrew Colclough, Mark Mannion, Oisin O’Rorke and Michael Herlihy with two well taken goals. For images of this match see HERE or click on image below:
The Silverpark contest resulted in a 4-9 to 3-1 win for the visitors who led by three points at half time. Prominent for Crokes were Conor O’Dwyer, Caolan Conway, Cian Gormely and James Murphy.. Earlier the under 12’s had an impressive 6-9 to 1-3 win away to St Judes with daring performances from Odhran O’Siochru, David Kane, Micheal O’Dwyer, Mark O’Loughlin, Conor Hayes and Donncha O’Murchu.
Schools Action
During the week there were positive indicators on the schools front. On Wednesday in the Leinster Colleges Junior Hurling “A” Championship Coláiste Eoin, Booterstown defeated Castlecomer C.S., 6-6 to 3 – 9 in Silverpark. This was Coláiste Eoin’s first ever win in hurling in Leinster 'A' competition and a fully deserved victory. For report see HERE
The combined Dublin Colleges Junior hurling team, made up of all colleges with the exception of Colaiste Eoin, were also victorious, accounting for Westmeath, 4-11 to 1-10. Crokes were represented by Darren McVeigh and Jack Doughan. For report see HERE .

On Wednesday at 8.15pm the seniors conclude the round robin section of the championship with a match against Ballyboden in ParnellPark under lights. Should they come through their group they will have a quarter final assignment on Sunday 14th October also in Parnell Park. Also on Sunday the intermediates have a league match against Clanna Gael Fontenoy in Silverpark at 11.00 while the Junior “B’s” will oppose St Vincents in a league game at the same venue with a 3pm throw in.
Both the Under 16A and Under 16D teams have reached county finals and these are likely to be played on Saturday 14th October. Saturday is also likely to have an extensive juvenile hurling programme.
On Sunday the Under 11’s have a major all day tournament in Glenalbyn. The visitors will be Na Piarsaigh from Cork, Monaleen from Limerick, Naomh Eanna. Gorey from Wexford, Emeralds (Urlingford) from Kilkenny and Faughs from Dublin. The first games are scheduled for 11.30am with the final due for 3.30pm. Friends of Dublin Hurling: Awards night
‘Friends of Dublin Hurling’ are hosting a ‘Celebrate Dublin Hurling’ night in the Red Cow Hotel on the night of November 2 (7.0).
RTÉ’s Des Cahill will host the event at which Wexford’s All-Ireland winning manager of 1996, Liam Griffin, will attend as the guest speaker.
Dublin hurling’s player of the year and young player of the year will be announced and there will also be an inductee to the Friends of Dublin Hurling Hall of Fame.
In addition, the evening will also feature the presentation of medals for the Dublin’s U21 Leinster winning side of 2007, the 2006 National League Division 2 winners and the victorious Walsh Cup team of 2003.
