No Sheridan Cup but .... Adult-9s are still Proud as Peacoc

Blink and you may have missed this success story during a particularly hectic period for the club's footballers at all levels!  It concerns the notable Sheridan Cup victory, back in October by, arguably (!?), the fittest team in the club.  Thanks to our roving reporter Robbie (six pack) Moloney for the inside track on this epic win:-)

First Silverware of the Peacocke Dynasty! Having been promoted from Division 10 in his first season, narrowly missing promotion to AFL8 and losing the O'Broin Cup final in his second, the Team that Mark Peacocke built has finally delivered the goods.

Playing a cup final in your backyard should make you favourites and Erin's Isle, C Championship finalists, must have felt they were almost there.

In a gruelling encounter, the one time "Ragball Rovers" outfit, whose motto has been "take your goals, the points will come", edged out the home side by a point!

Before the game, inspirational Mentor, Ian O'Sullivan had said a clean sheet would win the cup and it did. It was Rory Kelleher's typical finish that separated the sides. A seemingly bad high ball stuck to the fingers, a shimmy and a simple finish.

In recent times, it has been Cavan Vet, Donal O'Donnell running the line. In his absence, veteran (dropped) full back, Robbie Moloney took the line ably supported by the injured Tom O'Connor (the wedding crooner), leaving Mentors, Peacocke, Enda Connolly (The Man from Clare), "Sully" to do the damage on the field.

A genuine team effort, using all subs, this was a panel delivering in the absence of a key midfielder, with a Senior Hurler dominating at full back!

The Co. Board didn't have the cup to present to the winners at the final whistle.  No matter, this is a team that knows how to party, so watch out... the double is about!
