U10's win the Tom Maher cup
Congratulations to the U10 Kilmacud Crokes hurlers who beat Sarsfield of Cork in the final the St Marys (Clonmel) blitz on Saturday 25th August.
The tournament was organised into 4 group of 4 teams each; including O'Loughlin Gaels, Sarsfield (Cork),Mount Sion, Middleton, Clarinbridge, Castleknock, Graige Ballycallan St Mary's, Fourmilewater, Cahir,
The best placed int he group went forward to play in the cup semi-final with the second placed in each group going forward to the shield play-off.
The KC group comprised O'Loughlin Gaels, Mount Sion and Middleton. KC won each of their group games with the game against Mount Sion an absolute thriller. KC won the game with the final puck of the ball.
The Cup semi final against Fourmilewater ( who beat Graige Ballycallan into second place in Group C) was won in a convincing manner.
The final against Sarsfield (who beat Castleknock to get to the final) was a great game of hurling with the scoreline flattering the KC side. Both sides gave their all in what was a great game of hurling but the KC forwards converted their chances to clinch the title.
The team captain, Patrick Gibbons accepted the Tom Maher cup on behalf of the team. The conditions were perfect for hurling; short, lush grass and a light breeze.
