U9 and U10 Boys – Summer 2023 Crokes on Tour to Naomh Eanna in Wexford.
On Saturday 5th August the Kilmacud Crokes 2014 (U9) and 2013 (U10) boys travelled to Naomh Eanna in Wexford. For the U10s this was a repeat of last year’s very successful trip, but for the U9s this was a first ever away inter-county blitz.
As we all left Stillorgan there was a continuous deluge of rain so it was hard to know if the blitz would go ahead but thankfully the sunny south east lived up to its name and we had a fine sunny, if very windy, day for hurling. Both age grades fielded 2 teams, with the U9s being complemented by some members of the 2015 boys. We competed against teams from the hosts Naomh Eanna (Gorey), Glynn Barntown and Blackwater of Wexford and Loughlin Gaels of Kilkenny. Our boys displayed great tenacity and skill and with each match the performance level increased.
All of our teams had 3 initial group games and then a final game where all boys received a medal for their participation. This was a really fun and inclusive event so a big thank you to Naomh Eanna for their excellently run blitz and the crates of sandwiches, fruit and treats received went down very well with players, coaches and parents! The hospitality of Naomh Eanna and their coaches were a credit to the club. We look forward to welcoming Naomh Eanna to our Festivals of Hurling in September and October!
