U9's on the road again
Crokes take on Piltown of Kilkenny and Carrick Swans (Tipp)
The Kilmacud Crokes 2004 hurlers (u9) made the trip to South Kilkenny on Saturday (13th July 2013) to play against hosts Piltown GAA and Carrick Swans GAA from Tipperary, the invitation having come through Tom Walsh's grandfather, Bill. On a searing hot morning, with all the players boiling under their helmets (!), our lads got stuck into what proved to be a challenging task. Piltown and, in particular, Carrick Swans, had some fine hurlers and showed some lovely touches, but the Crokes players held their own in four very competitive matches, winning one and running the opposition close in the others.
A big shout out to the four players from the 2005 panel who joined us to make sure we had sufficient numbers to travel. Finn, Ruaidhri, Tom and James performed excellently, so that no-one could have known that they were playing above their age group!
Thanks to all the boys and their parents for making the long but beneficial trip! Thanks too to Bill and his Piltown GAA colleagues from proving such welcoming hosts!
The travelling panel on the day was:
Gearóid Fitzgerald, David Hyland, Eoin Kenny, Danny Killeen, James Kilroy, Tom Maher, Seán O'Hurley, Niall O'Mahony, Ryan Nolan, Tomás Noone, Hugh Reid, Oisín Tiernan, Finn Walsh, Ruaidhri Walsh and Tom Walsh
