40 Years on and Still going Strong
Saturday evening the 17th of November will be remembered by all Irish Sports fans as the night that the Irish Rugby team overcame the Mighty New Zealand All Blacks for the 1st time on Irish soil. It will also be remembered as the night Kilmacud Crokes football celebrated the 40th Anniversary of the club's 1st Intermediate Football Championship Win of 1978. The significance of the win was that it was Kilmacud Crokes 1st Adult Championship Win ever and winning the Intermediate Championship brought our Status to a “Senior Football Club” which enabled us play in the Dublin Senior Football Championship there after. In attendance was John Sheridan who was MC for the night, he was the Manager of the Team at the time. Paddy Forde was coach of the team at the time and he entertained those in attendance with fond memories. Gerry Walsh who was captain of the team also said a few words. Pat Sheridan (chairman of the Football Committee 1978) and Seamus McCann (Committee member ) presented all who were part of the 1978 setup in attendance with a commemorative scroll. Others in attendance in addition to the players were Charlie Farrell (Selector & Treasurer of the Football Committee 1978) and Michael Carolan (Football Committee 1978) A great night was had by all.
