Crokes lose out to Cuala in Senior Hurling Final
Brilliant 2nd half fightback not enough to snatch victory
Beautiful afternoon for hurling in a balmy Parnell Park.
Cuala started the stronger, and the concession of an early goal seemed to knock Crokes out of their stride. It took almost 25 minutes before Oisin O'Rorke registered Crokes' first over of the day. Although Crokes raised the white flag three more times, Cuala went in at the short whistle 1-08 to 0-04 to the good.
Crokes tore into Cuala in the second half, scoring 8 without reply and eventually overhauling thier southside neighbours to take a 2 point lead as the half entered the last ten minutes. However, although Cuala at times looked almost shell-shocked, Crokes' monumental effort to get back into the game began to take its toll and Cuala finished the stronger, winning out in the end by 3 points.
