Celebrating Past Victories
Pictured are members of the 1992 to 1995b senior football squad, and the squad's manger Tommy Lyons, who brought huge honour to the Club, by winning our first Dublin Club title in 1992 and then in 1995 going on to win our first All Ireland club championship when they beat Bellaghy of Derry by 8 points to 5 in Croke park on a day of four seasons. The group convened last weekend to mark the 30th Anniversary of that great victory which is still fresh in the memory of those who were there to support them through their Dublin, Leinster and All Ireland campaigns.
It is a mark of our club that the squad includes many fathers of current and past club players including John Sweeney, Frank Rutledge, Mick Jones, Pat Burke, Nial Clancy, Paddy O'Donoghue, who is current manager of the ladies senior football team. Also there was Robbie Leahy who has taken over as a selector on senior ladies from another great of the 1995 team Peter Ward who after a few great years a stepped back this year.
Reports of the celebration are that all members of the squad were tucked up in bed nice and early on the night as befits gentlemen of their great age.
