Beacon Hospital All-Ireland Hurling 7s Senior Semi Finals

Body

Glenalbyn was lit up by two very exciting senior semi-finals!

In the first game, it was an all Tipperary affair as Moycarkey Borris took on Portroe.

A fine display of hurling was given by both sides, but it was the final few seconds that proved decisive to the outcome of the game. With Portroe trailing by 2 points in the final few moments, they struck a long distance free that dropped into Moycarkey square. Much to the bemusement from players and supporters, the ball seemed to evade all outfield players and roll into the Moycarkey net, with the goalkeeper unable to make a last ditch save. There wasn’t any time for Moycarkey to rectify the blunder, as the referee halted time with a score line of Portroe 3.8 v. Moycarkey 3.7.

In the second semi-final, Na Fianna from Dublin took on Mullagh of Galway.

Na Fianna led the first half 4.3 (15) to Mullagh’s 2.3 (9), but the men hailing from east Galway narrowed the gap and the match finished up all square. With the score line reading Na Fianna 5.8 (23) Mullagh 6.4 (23), the game was brought to penalties. With Mullagh scoring both their efforts and Paddy Hardiman making two excellent saves, Mullagh progressed into the Beacon Hospital All-Ireland Hurling 7s Final.
