U16A Win County Championship
Crokes won their 2nd consecutive u16 'A' Hurling Championship against a fine Ballyboden Team last Saturday
St Peregrines hosted this years final - at Blakestown Road; The match was eagerly awaited as both teams finished top of the Div 1 league. The U16 A Championship is the Blue Riband of Juvenile Hurling and the stepping stone onto Minor and Adult participation
From Crokes perspective there was great satisfaction and reward in beating this strong Ballyboden for the first time in three years.
Crokes got off to a good start with an early goal Joe Kelly's early goal and dominated proceedings in that first quarter - Ballyboden having the wind started getting back into it establishing a 4 point lead at half-time.
The match was finally balanced but it was composure, resolve and character that saw Crokes claw back and ultimately overtake Boden. At full time they had a 2 point advantage in a hard fought game - reflecting the stature and competitiveness of 2 worthy teams. Congratulations to both teams and management.
