- We start in the Function at 12 noon with a presentation on the latest developments in online learning and coaching and the resources that are available. The guest presenter is David Sweeney who is the GAA's Multimedia Resource Developer. David will demonstrate the very latest online resources available to help coaches and give us a guided tour around the following-
- GAA Learning Website http://learning.gaa.ie
- The online resource for Coaching activities 'GAA Activity Planner' http://learning.gaa.ie/planner/
- Other plans for online Coaching Course completion.
- We follow that with another Presentation in the Function Room on the area of Mental Health. The guest presenter is Emmet Haughian from the GAA's Community & Health section. This is a subject which the Executive Committee of the club are planning to address and highlight during the coming year. This presentation should be a good lead into that and give an insight into what the GAA are doing to help in this area.
- See http://www.gaa.ie/community/ for further details on what the GAA's Community and Health department do.
- In particular the section on Mental Health and the 'Play in my Boots' campaign http://www.gaa.ie/community/mental-health/play-in-my-boots/
- We then have 2 Practical sessions from 2pm-3pm out on the Paddock and the Pitch
- Pauric will take a Practical Football session on the theme of 'Games Based Coaching'. We hope to look at how Games based training (Small Sided games, Conditioned Games, Backs & Forwards, Game Play drills) compares to a Drill based model.
- Niall has invited a coach Willie Coogan (former Dublin Minor Coach) to run a Hurling Practical.
- We will finish with a presentation on Athletic Development in Room 4. Most of our current U14/U15 & U16's are coming to the end of a 10 week Winter Athletic Development programme which was run by Mark Roe (currently studying for his PHD in the area and working with the Dublin Senior Footballers). Mark will report on the programme and explain what he tried to do. He will also advise on how we can keep developing AD during the coming season.
